1978 Jaguar XJ6
1978 Jaguar XJ6
Introduced in 1968 Jaguar’s XJ6 set a new benchmark for 4 door saloon cars. They were much more refined in suspension, passenger comfort and handling than the preceding Mark 2’s.
As ever the model was continuously refined over 3 series, from ’68 to ‘86. Our 1978 Series 2 model is a well known and loved member of the northern section of the Jaguar Car Club of Tasmania. Although starting to show her age in some areas it still presents extremely well, and you would be hard pressed to find a better example of a Series 2. She is finished in period Carriage Brown paintwork with a gold coach line, Biscuit leather interior and a walnut veneer dash. The chrome bumpers and accents stand out against the coachwork and are in good condition.
The straight six 4.2 litre engine is fitted with twin SU carburettors and an automatic Borg Warner 65 box. It has air conditioning, a non-original sound system, and a great looking set of Kent alloy wheels.
Jaguar’s slogan of “Grace, Space and Pace” was never more apt.
